You will have to excuse my blogging hiatus. It's our new baby's fault. I'm about 14 weeks pregnant and have most definitely NOT felt like blogging. Between strep throat, two colds, and oh ya, morning sickness, I haven't been up to too much.
But I don't mean to complain. We are totally excited for another adventure in Parentland. This little one should be here by June 3rd (and not a day late this time(!) unlike our first born who was an entire week late!) I am really hoping for May, although some of our good friends are due the day after us with their second, so maybe we should try and plan something with them.
Anyways, if you can't tell, I'm a little emotional and snippy this time around. Poor Mitch, he definitely gets the brunt of it. At least after I say something sassy to him, we usually end up laughing. Usually.
I was much more sick this time around. Never threw up (I never ever throw up), but felt like I could at any moment for weeks. I am finally starting to feel better as far as morning sickness goes, but it still happens occasionally.
Layla is getting used to the idea that there is "a baby in mamma's belly" but she usually insists that there are TWO babies in mamma's belly, which totally freaked me out until we had our first ultra sound where we learned there is indeed only one in there. Phew! I don't know how people handle multiples. That would be hard. Not that I wouldn't be thankful, but I would be cranky, that's for sure!
Layla also insists that it's "a baby bwudder" (brother), but I'm not sure if that's because she knows something or just because her only friend that has a younger sibling has a brother ... either way we'll find out the sex on December 19th. I am excited. We don't care either way what it is. If it's a girl, I don't have to buy a thing since she would be born close enough to Layla's birthday to share clothes. But, if it's a boy then that's cool too because we'd have one of each.
That being said, if it's a girl, her first and middles names will be Cambria Quinn. A boy will be Marcus James (unless I decide to fight Mitch on that first name, not sure I'm totally sold yet.) Quinn is my middle name, and James is Mitch's middle name. Awww, cute. Also, if it's a boy, there is a strong possibility we may get divorced over naming this child as we do not agree on ANY boy names, except maybe Marcus. So let's just hope it's a girl. I'm getting really good at the tea party thing and I actually like the color pink now.
Anyways, I'm just thankful everyday that the baby is healthy, that we have the opportunity to have great health care while I am pregnant, and that we have been living in my parents' basement while I was the sickest so they could take care of us when I was too sick and Mitch was at work. Seriously, who knows what Layla would have had for dinner most nights if it hadn't been for mi padres. I hate to even admit this, but there were more than a few times when I let her eat tortilla chips for breakfast because she could get them out of the pantry herself and I was too sick to move off the couch. And in my defense, she really wanted them. #1 Mom right here. Don't worry, I've made it up to her with made-from-scratch whole wheat pancakes now that I am feeling better.
All that being said, we are moving this Saturday. YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! I have a head cold that forced me to buy a slew of allowable meds for pregnant women today, and I'm hoping I'm at least well enough to direct the moving crew on how to arrange the bedroom furniture on moving day. I also have some horrible insomnia lately, including intense, scary, very vivid dreams that I usually wake up from either sweating or crying. (One dream was about my all-time favorite band Coldplay breaking up and I woke up crying. Ha, ha.) But most are downright scary and so real. I hate it. My doctor approved two different sleep aid meds, so I am trying one tonight.
Anyways, I'll post again when we're officially owners of our new home.
